13 April 2020 — lockdown continues…

France lockdown has been extended to 11 May. I was mentally prepared for a two weeks extension. But I do understand the seriousness of the current situation and fully support the necessary precautions issued by the government.

Recently I’ve been reading lots of social media posts about certain countries or leaders doing exceptional work in curbing the spread of coronavirus. I do applaud those countries where the government are mobilising all their efforts and resources and seeing some successes.

However for the rest of the world we need to continue the fight. Rising numbers of new cases and death tolls are staggering. There are a lot of things we do not know about the virus. We are learning and adjusting our lives accordingly. So I would like to plea to everyone not to post unnecessary messages on social media that does not serve any of us positively. A lot of us are going through a hard time and some may even suffering in silence with depression and isolation. So your social media bickering is not helping.

This is a global pandemic and we are in it together. We need to support each other and help our communities near and far. We cannot stand idle. We have to follow government advisories closely. Be it staying at home in lockdown or wearing face mask outside. This is not the time to debate who is right or wrong.

We have to do our part. At this point we have to place our trust in our government that they are doing everything necessary ensuring people stay healthy and those infected are given all the medical attentions they need.

At 8pm everyday please applaud our medical and essentials workers doing their part everyday.

If possible, spread kindness to everyone that you encounter (keep social distancing).

One day when this is over we can celebrate, together, in solidarity.

“Vingt-huit” is twenty eight in French.
